We think this little corner of the world offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a special setting. Simply relax rest & recharge while you take in all that nature has to offer or enjoy the stars at night as there is minimal light pollution.
If you would like to enjoy some day or night time activities our location ensures you have plenty to do from the village pub a walk away or the sights and sounds of central Oxford which is a 30 minute drive.
We al know campsite facilities can be a little questionable some times, so we have tried to ensure your experience is enhanced by using the facilities. We want you to enjoy these as much as the location. We are creating a space where you can enjoy the scenery as you wash!
As this is an off grid location, we use a composting toilet method. Don't worry this does not mean "icky" we ensure that its a bright open space, which is cleaned regularly and all compost is properly stored in order to breakdown safely and effectively and most importantly not damage the environment.
We do not compost underneath the loos, we empty regularly so no danger of any unpleasantness!
Our Toilet Facility
The shower is magical at night as you can see below.
Enjoy a hot shower set amongst the trees.
Washing Products
As we are offgrid, and so close to the watercourse only certain washing up, shower wash or shampoo can be safely used.
We don't expect you to have these to hand so we are happy to supply these for you.
Our site is accessed via a private laneway though open fields, with cows grazing in summer.
There is a small woodland area to explore and have I mentioned this site was used for the filming of Alice in Wonderland by the BBC as it was the only site along the length of the Thames which has no evidence of human habitation for miles.
Our regular wildlife visitors are (Ken & Deirdre) a pair of munt jack deer, and their cousins the roe deer followed closely by the rabbits and foxes.
Whilst the river is home to swans, ducks geese, a kingfisher, a heron and even a cormorant. Overhead you will be able to hear and see the red kites.
Our other great uniqueness is that you will be one of four tents on site, so if you are a family group, hiring all tents, you will have an exclusive experience in a fantastic setting.
And new for 2024 is our wood fired hot tub which will be nestled in the trees for privacy but enjoying full views of the open countryside.
We are an off grid site, and really want to maintain the ambience of the location so listed below are a few general rules of the site.
Please note wild swimming, paddle boarding or kayaking is entirely at your own discretion. Children must be supervised at all time as there is easy access to open water on the campsite.
We have secure off road parking which is a short walk away from your tents. This is across a farmers field. Although access for loading / unloading is ok.
There is no 240v electricity on site, you can charge your phone via USB charge points in lock boxes at the washing up area. There isn't any power for hairdryers, straighteners, or recharging your laptop. - We are off grid!
As we want to encourage the wildlife to stay close to our site, we would appreciate if amplified music didn't take place. I have heard the deer do like some acoustic guitar though!
We are an off grid location, we would ask that you leave no trace and remove all rubbish and recycling when you leave.
