@ Camping by the River

Camping by the River

Join us in our luxury, fully kitted-out bell tents on our secluded off grid campsite. With just four bell tents (each tent sleeping 6), you can enjoy unrestricted views of the river Thames or perhaps explore the adjacent woodland.  If you book all 4 tents you have over 3 acres to stay in with exclusive use for your group.

Nestled by the river in a meadow adjacent to woodland, stay in our fully equipped bell tents and enjoy getting back to nature without having to bring the kitchen sink.

We provide everything you need for a relaxing off grid camping experience, crockery, pots, pans cutlery, gas & BBQ cooking, picnic benches, bed linen & blankets, phone charging & a fridge freezer! Hot shower, toilet & washing up area & even a campfire (wood available to buy or BYO) -  Just bring yourself and your food  - although with two fine restaurants within a short walk, you may not need the food! Tea, Coffee, Milk & Sugar are supplied.

Our Tents

Currently offering four bell tents, you can be assured of a comfortable stay with a proper double bed, wood burning stove and all crockery provided.

BBQ's and gas camp stoves make up the full camping experience.

There is also a picnic bench beside your tent.

On the FAQ's page we list everything we provide

This is an off grid site, but rest assured, we have hot running water for showers and we use a compost toilet system.

Do have a look at the gallery for the interior shots, and the night time fairy lights!

There is a lockable charging station to charge phones and of course solar lighting.

There is a fridge with small freezer available for you to use.

Communal Areas

Enjoy walks or sit amongst the trees in the adjacent woodland.

Sit alongside the river or have an evening around by the camp fire.

Our wood fired hot tub will be available from 6pm - 10pm.

Launch your kayak or paddleboard at the "Beach"

Check out our To Do page for some local attractions.

In Sutton Courtenay in the heart of the Oxfordshire,  10 minutes drive from Britain's oldest market town of Abingdon, and only 25 minutes from the city of Oxford. Our well appointed campsite allows you to get away from it all, or use it as a base to reach an array of local attractions.

Our site is accessed via a private laneway though open fields, with cows grazing in summer. Car parking is in the glamping field, but not alongside your tent.

There is a small woodland area to explore and this site was used for the filming of Alice in Wonderland by the BBC as it was the only site along the length of the Thames which has no evidence of human habitation for miles.

Our regular wildlife visitors are (Ken & Deirdre) a pair of munt jack deer,  and their cousins the roe deer followed closely by the rabbits and foxes.

Whilst the river is home to swans, ducks, geese, a kingfisher, a heron and even a cormorant. Overhead you will be able to hear and see the red kites.
